I experimented till I had my personal recipe downward, cooking/turning times and the like. You can get meat at a butcher shoppe. I believe they apply partially frozen flank steak sliced on number vii for nice fifty-fifty cuts. You tin larn how to make it chewy and moist or dry and tough or anywhere in between and whatever flavoring/common salt/pepper you desire. A total batch would take me around four hours to finish.

I quit making it because I got constantly bugged by others for "some of my crawly jerky", be warned, haha...

I've been tempted to effort the DIY dehydrator using large home AC/heater filters and a box fan that I saw in a Good Eats episode.

Could blow it out the window towards annoying neighbors that smoke.

I guess it depends on if yous use rancid meat or not (thinking of your neighbors). It smells like goodness otherwise and yous become real tempted to consume it every bit information technology gets done. For the all-time pieces, checking information technology often when nigh completed is required. My D has hotspots then I rotate the shelves while Drying so rack spots towards the stop (back of rack is hotter in mine).

Jerky might non wait appetizing, until you dive caput first and try it. Personally, I oasis't yet found a diverseness of jerky I don't enjoy, and you might fifty-fifty desire to call back of it equally dehydrated meat that you can savor- you don't have to woof it down, it's got so much season that you might enjoy if you accept it slow.

If y'all do decide to try it, tell us all what yous call up! I'd love to hear your jerkified impressions

Um, certain. I don't know how the seven-11's are upwards in Canada, simply I'one thousand certain they are better than they are downwards here in the 'States. For a first try, go for the apartment strips of jerky, then the sticks. I detect that strips take more than flavor on boilerplate, but yous might fifty-fifty encounter sheets of the stuff, which are also great. I've only had hasty sheets once, and it was definitely memorable

I've made jerky earlier. I have a smoker. They best way to brand jerky is to smoke information technology in to submission. I just fabricated a batch of some jamaican jerk sauce/marinade for jerk chicken and pork. I'm thinking that I need to brand a trip to the store to buy some brim steaks and DIY myself some jamaican jerk jerky. JAMAICAN Wiggle Hasty sounds good don't it?

Just had some Chinese beefiness jerky, reading this thread I could no longer resist. Need to stop at my local Chinese grocery store and pick up more than as I've hands finished my stash. Although the Chinese beef jerky (Gnow Yoke Gone) available here in my local Chinese grocery shop is quite skillful it pales in comparing to the one made at the following store in San Francisco:

Jackson Market & Beefiness Jerky
1201 Jackson Street, San Francisco, CA 94109

If you're ever in SF and dear jerky, you owe to yourself to cease in at Jackson Marketplace & Beefiness Hasty and pick upwards a few bags of their famous Gnow Yoke Gone. They are of the sweef variety, soft and tender, and fabricated fresh in their kitchen. It's the best Gnow Yoke Gone I've ever tasted and oasis't found whatever other brand that could take information technology's place. The store is suposed to take a website up soon and then y'all tin order their Chinese beefiness jerky online but as of correct now no word on when that will exist.

Until then looks like I'll have to continue and ask my relatives or cousins to buy some and ship it to me.
